LED Energy Savings Calculator
Are you worried about your monthly electricity bill? If so, I think this calculator is made just for you!
Nowadays everyone is replacing their old bulbs with LEDs, but the real question is how much will it make a difference to your pocket? With the help of this calculator we will get to know how much money you can save.
Your Estimated Savings
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: How many bulbs need to be replaced?
First of all you have to tell how many bulbs you want to convert to LED. I would suggest that if you are doing it for the first time then start your room with just one bulb and write '1'. But to be honest, I think if you are ready, you can replace 10 bulbs of the whole house at once - it makes more sense. "You put" "10" "and look awesome." The more bulbs you change, the more you'll save!
Step 2: How many watts are old bulbs?
Now I would say pick up your existing bulb and look at it. There must be something written on it - 40W, 60W or maybe 100W. You have to put the same number in the second box. I think this is the most important step because this will decide how much electricity you are spending right now.
Step 3: How many watts will the new LED bulbs take?
Now it's the turn of the new LED bulb. Nowadays, LED bulbs of 6W, 9W or 12W are available in the market. A 6W LED bulb gives as much light as an old 40W bulb! That is, you will reduce power consumption by 6-7 times. I would recommend that you choose a 6W or 9W LED if you are replacing a 40W bulb.
Step 4: How many hours per day does the light bulb burn?
Now think about how many hours a day you turn on the lights. Do you burn at 6 p.m. and close at 11 p.m.? So that was five hours. You have to write the same number '5'. I think it is very important that you put the right number otherwise you will not be able to estimate the savings correctly.
Step 5: How many days a week do the lights come on?
That's a slightly different question. If you're at home every day and the lights come on every day, I'd say you write '7'. But suppose this bulb is in your office room which is used only from Monday to Friday, then I suggest you put the '5'. I believe that this small detail makes your savings more accurate.
Step 6: What is the rate of electricity?
Now take out your electricity bill. You see in that what is the rate per unit (kWh). The rates vary from state to state and city to city. Different in New York, different in California, different in Texas. Whatever is the rate, you put the same here. I think that's what will tell you how many dollars you'll actually save!
Step 7: LED bulbs Price
The price of LED bulbs (if you want to know) is not necessary, but I think it is quite useful! If you want to know how many months you will get back the money spent on buying LED bulbs, then I suggest you put the price of the bulb here.
Step 7: Calculate!
Just now I want you to click on the green "Calculate" button and see awesome! A picture of your entire savings will open in front of you. But I think you'll be pleasantly surprised!
The results are easy to understand.
Now you will see three things, and I want to explain each one:
How much money will be saved throughout the year: Let's say you see $9.28. That's the amount you'll save throughout the year - just by replacing one bulb! And I think that's a wonderful thing. Imagine how much you will save if you change 10 bulbs.
How many units of electricity will be saved? The example shows 62 kWh. That is, you will save 62 units of electricity throughout the year. I believe it's great not just for your pocket, but also for our environment. Less electricity means less pollution, and I think we should all care about that!
How much to save each month: That's $0.77 a month. Even though this amount may seem small, I suggest you look at it this way - it becomes a substantial savings over the year. And that's just the bulb!
The last thing you see, how easy is it? I think switching to LED bulbs is not just a way to save money. This is the hallmark of smart people who make big savings from small decisions. Also I have seen that LED bulbs last for 5-10 years, while old bulbs fuse every 6-8 months.
I also want to point out that LED bulbs are much better for the environment. The more electricity you save, the less coal burns in power plants and the less carbon goes into our atmosphere. So what's the delay now? My advice is to check your savings with this calculator and step into the world of LEDs today.
