Bathroom Mirror Size Calculator

Find the perfect mirror dimensions for your vanity.

Recommendation:

Renovating your bathroom or buying a new mirror? The biggest confusion is - "What size mirror should I buy so that it looks good on the vanity?" If taken too big, it will look strange, if taken too small, the free space will be wasted. That's why I've created this bathroom mirror size calculator that will tell you the perfect size. Let see how to use it.

Step 1: Measure the width of your vanity

First of all you have to measure the width of your bathroom vanity. Take a tape measure from one end of your vanity to the other – this should be in inches.

Type this number in the "Vanity Width (Inches)" box. For example: Single sink vanities: Typically 24 to 48 inches wide. If yours is 36 inches, type "36".

Double sink vanities: These are larger – ranging from 60 to 84 inches. Suppose yours is 72 inches, then enter "72".

Custom Size: Some people have medium size like 48 inches or 60 inches. Whatever it is, enter that number.

Step 2: Select the number of syncs

Now click on the dropdown “Number of Sinks”. Here you will get two options:

1 Sink (Single Mirror): Select this if your vanity has only one sink. This case will have a large single mirror that will cover the entire vanity.

2 Sinks (Double Mirrors): If you have a double sink vanity – like the one in a master bathroom – that allows two people to get ready at the same time. In this case, you can install two separate mirrors, one above each sink.

Most guest bathrooms and small bathrooms have a single sink. Master bathrooms usually have double sinks.

Step 3: Press the "Calculate Size" button

When you have filled out both fields, click the big dark green button that says "CALCULATE SIZE". And immediately, a recommendation box will telling you what the perfect mirror size should be for you!

understand the result

When you calculate, you'll see a "Recommendation" section. Two important things are mentioned in this:

Ideal Mirror Width: This gives you a range. For example, if your vanity is 48 inches, it may say that the mirror should be between 42 and 46 inches.

Centering Advice: This also suggests that the mirror should be placed in the center and should not extend beyond the edge of the vanity.

Why is this so important?

Proportion: If the mirror is too big then it looks ugly. If it is too small then the vanity looks empty. The perfect size makes the bathroom look balanced and stylish.

Functionality: You should be able to see your entire face, up to your shoulders, in the mirror. If it is too small then it will be of no use.

Lighting: Most people install lights on either side or above the mirror. If you have a mirror of right size, the lighting will look better.

Tips

Height also matters: This calculator gives width, but consider height too. Mirrors should generally be 24-36 inches tall. If your ceiling is high, then 40-48 inches is also fine.

Coordinate with vanity lights: If you are installing side sconces, first decide the mirror size, then position the lights accordingly.

Also consider the size of the frame: If getting a framed mirror, remember that the frame will also take up space. If the recommendation is 40" and the frame is 2" wide on both sides, the total will be 44".

Test in the showroom: If possible, look at mirrors of different sizes in the store. Take a photo and compare it with your bathroom. Check Return Policy: Sometimes what was imagined turns out to be different after it is put on. Therefore buy from a place where a return or exchange facility is available.

That is all! Now you can confidently choose the right size mirror. This small detail can make a big difference to your bathroom. Happy remodeling!
